What is your minimum Grade Point Average GPA requirement for regular admissions?
Edinboro University prefers a 2.5 GPA or higher in a college preparatory curriculum.
What is the minimum SAT/ACT score requirement?
The middle 50% of the freshman class scores between 900 and 1100 on the SAT, and between 19 and 24 on the ACT. For specialized majors, additional requirements may apply.
Is there an essay required on the application??
No, but there is a section where we ask students to list information pertaining to school activities, part-time employment, awards, etc.
Are letters of recommendation required?
No, but will be considered if submitted.
Is there an application fee?
The application fee is $30.00.
Does Edinboro accept fee waivers?
Yes. We currently accept the following fee waivers.
- Early Advantage Special students (students still in high school)
- Erie Area Academic Sports League participants
- SAT or ACT financial need waivers
- SSHE Academic Passport transfer students
- GECAC students identified as Talent Search or Upward Bound
- SSHE Partnership students (Erie, Meadville, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Philadelphia)
- Edinboro University Admissions Visitation Waiver (Must obtain coupon from Admissions Office prior to submitting an application)
How soon will a student know whether or not they've been accepted?
The "turn around" time for a student to be notified of our admissions decision is approximately two to three weeks.
Can a student have a dual major?
There are 57 minors at Edinboro University that can be combined with any of the nearly 100 academic majors.
How large are your classes?
The faculty-student ratio is 1:19. A large classroom setting at Edinboro would be 40 or 45 students. Average first-year classes have 28 students.
What is the male-female ratio?
The male-female ratio is approximately 2:3.
How many residence halls do you have?
Edinboro has 6 residence halls. We also have special interest areas where a student can choose a particular living environment, such as smoke-free living, 24-hour quiet study areas, all male/all female floors, residence with disabilities, and our Living-Learning Floors where students from the same major, field of study or interests can live on one floor.
Can a student pick his or her roommate?
Yes.
How large is your campus?
Edinboro University is situated on 585 acres with 44 buildings.
Can freshmen have cars?
Yes. All students are permitted to have cars on campus, but parking is restricted to certain areas.

Edinboro participates in Division II of the NCAA Collegiate Sports. Men's Wresting is Division I. Edinboro University also has Wheelchair Basketball, which is for both male and female athletes.
What kind of scholarships does Edinboro offer?
Each department has academic scholarships awarded to students based on credentials, (i.e. GPA, SAT or ACT scores, grades in competitive high school courses, etc.). They range from $25.00 to full tuition.
Do you have free tutoring?
Yes, we have students who tutor free of charge, as well as faculty and staff tutorial assistance. They typically meet in the library according to a pre-set schedule at the beginning of each semester.
Does Edinboro University have a drug policy?
Yes. It's called "Zero Tolerance."
When can a student visit the University?
The Admissions Office is open Monday through Friday throughout the entire year. Personal interviews, campus tours, meetings with faculty members and coaches will be arranged upon request. Advance notice is appreciated.
What is there to do on campus when a student is not in class or studying?
Our Student Activities office provides a list of activities for the students to participate in during the year. We have concerts, comedians, guest speakers, etc. There are also more than 200 clubs and organizations on campus.
What programs is Edinboro best known for?
Accounting, art (13 tracks including animation, cinema, graphic arts, textile design), business, communications (radio-TV broadcasting), chemistry, forensic science, computer science, criminal justice, elementary education, secondary education, financial services, international business, journalism, special education, 3/2 engineering, environmental science, marketing, nursing, pre-professional studies, political science, psychology, social work, speech and hearing disorders.
