The Act 101 Program was developed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to provide support to motivated undergraduate students whose economic and educational backgrounds challenge their pursuit of a college education. The Act 101 Program provides counseling, tutoring, and cultural enrichment activities to students. There is also an honor society, Chi Alpha Epsilon, affiliated with the program that encourages academic excellence. Students enrolled in the program are also provided leadership development opportunities.
Advising and Career Services assists students throughout their University experience with the development of appropriate educational and career goals. Staff provide individual counseling and assessment to facilitate decision making pertaining to choice of major, career goals, internship opportunities, and transition to graduate education or employment. Job search services include resume consultation, mock interviewing, and sponsorship of job fairs. Students are encouraged to use the services early and often. Although the focus is on current undergraduate and graduate students, services are also provided to prospective students and alumni. Academic advising is also provided to Undeclared and B.A. Individualized Studies students.
The Bachelor of Arts in Individualized Studies (BAIS) is the University's most flexible Bachelor's program. In addition to the University's General Education requirements, the BAIS curriculum allows students to create their own concentration to best satisfy their own academic interests and career goals.
The Early Alert Program is designed to provide faculty and staff the opportunity to refer students who are experiencing difficulty early on in the semester. The students will then be contacted individually and assisted or referred to other services on campus if necessary in an effort to provide early intervention to increase their chances for a successful semester.
The International Student Services Office provides a comprehensive international program encompassing a wide variety of programming and services to international and domestic students, such as guidance and information on immigration matters, assistance with academic issues, and support with the orientation and acclimation to life in the United States and on Edinboro's campus. The Study Abroad Program provides educational opportunities in cooperation with colleges and universities located abroad.
The Office of Adult Student Services provides guidance and support to adult students enrolled at the University. It facilitates alternative or accelerated means of earning credit such as the CLEP exams or Life Experience Credit. Students are also able to obtain priority scheduling through this office. The office also coordinates Alpha Sigma Lambda which is the honor society for adult students.
The Peer Tutoring Program offers tutoring services, delivered by fully-trained and carefully selected undergraduate students, to any undergraduate student experiencing difficulty with a course. Tutoring is offered in a wide variety of subject areas and at numerous locations across campus.
The Undeclared Advising Program (UAP) is a program that helps students by: serving in a "back-up" capacity for your academic advisor, guiding your exploration of academic options, administering online interest testing (career assessment), connecting you with other campus offices, and communicating via News Quickly! - an electronic newsletter.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to make referrals as appropriate to the aforementioned offices and to encourage students to make use of these services.
