Practice for Praxis Testing

The Learning Center in McNerney Hall has practice tests for all three sections of the Praxis I (i.e. math, reading, and writing). They are paper-and-pencil versions and must remain in the Learning Center. Students are welcome to stop by to take a practice exam during regular hours of operation (listed below). No appointment is necessary for taking a practice exam.

For those students who have difficulties in math, the Learning Center offers math tutoring. This is done on a one-on-one basis by appointment only. Walk-ins are not accepted for Praxis math tutoring. Appointments can be made by stopping by the Learning Center during regular hours of operation or calling during those same hours (732-1290).

Learning Center Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday: 8:00 - 4:30

Expiration of Praxis Scores

Praxis scores, for any test, cannot be more than ten years old at the time of application for Pennsylvania certification.

Required Praxis Tests

A second method of accomplishing the basic skills testing requirements will now be available through achieving a composite/summary test score of 521, provided that the following individual PPST I test scores are met:

Reading - 171 minimum

Writing - 170 minimum

Mathematics - 171 minimum

Composite total required - 521

For example, an individual with strong math skills may have scored 178 in the PPST Math, a score of 172 in Reading and a score of 171 in Writing. This student would meet the Praxis I composite test requirement as the composite score of 521 was met and no individual test score was under the required score minimum.
