Code of Conduct
XI. RETENTION OF RECORDS
Students who graduate and receive a degree from the University are considered to be in "good standing" at the time the degree is conferred. As such, all written disciplinary records or computer files for cases involving sanctions other than a suspension, expulsion, or residence hall removal will be expunged two years after graduation. If the student does not graduate, the records will be expunged four years after the adjudication.
Astudent may request that his/her judicial records be expunged two years following an adjudication. This will only be considered if the student has had no additional infractions, and is not currently on disciplinary probation. This request is made to the Dean of Student Life, who will respond in writing as to whether or not the request has been granted.
Judicial records for cases resulting in suspension or residence hall removal will be expunged six years after the expiration of the sanction, or two years after graduation, if the student re-enrolls during this time period. University expulsion is permanent, and records will be maintained by the Office of Student Judicial Affairs for an indefinite period of time.
Audio recordings for cases resulting in suspension or residence hall removal will be maintained for six years after the expiration of the sanction, or two years after graduation if the student re-enrolls during this time period. Expulsion is permanent and audio recordings will be maintained for an indefinite period of time. Audio recordings of cases that do not result in suspension, expulsion, or residence hall removal will be maintained for six months or until all University appeals are exhausted.
