Living and Learning

Living and Learning

Living and Learning Floors have been part of Edinboro University for over ten years, starting in 1995.  Choosing to become part of a living-learning community is a unique opportunity for any student to live on the same floor with others who share the same major, field of study, or interest area.  Participants will interact with faculty and staff outside of the classroom through programs, activities, and events.  Residents are able to gain assistance and ideas from peers who share their strong commitment to the living-learning experience.

Each living-learning floor has at least one Scholar-in-Residence (SIR).  The scholar is a student staff member who is the link between the floor and the sponsering program's faculty advisor.  The scholar works with the residents to ensure that an adequate level of academic support and programming is available on the floor.  Scholars are selected based upon their academic performance and knowledge of and participation in the sponsoring program.   Participating in living-learning is easy.  If you are an incoming student, you should indicate your desire to participate in a living-learning floor on your preference form which can be found in your new student housing selection mailing.  Currently enrolled students who are interested in living-learning can contact the Residence Life and Housing Office for further details, as individual living-learning floors have varying requirements for participation.   Edinboro University offers 11 Living and Learning Floors.  Of the 11 Floors, Liberal Arts has four:
