- Living and Learning
Living and Learning Floors have been part of Edinboro University for over ten years, starting in 1995. Choosing to become part of a living-learning community is a unique opportunity for any student to live on the same floor with others who share the same major, field of study, or interest area. Participants will interact with faculty and staff outside of the classroom through programs, activities, and events. Residents are able to gain assistance and ideas from peers who share their strong commitment to the living-learning experience.
Each living-learning floor has at least one Scholar-in-Residence (SIR). The scholar is a student staff member who is the link between the floor and the sponsering program's faculty advisor. The scholar works with the residents to ensure that an adequate level of academic support and programming is available on the floor. Scholars are selected based upon their academic performance and knowledge of and participation in the sponsoring program. Participating in living-learning is easy. If you are an incoming student, you should indicate your desire to participate in a living-learning floor on your preference form which can be found in your new student housing selection mailing. Currently enrolled students who are interested in living-learning can contact the Residence Life and Housing Office for further details, as individual living-learning floors have varying requirements for participation. Edinboro University offers 11 Living and Learning Floors. Of the 11 Floors, Liberal Arts has four:- Criminal Justice
The Criminal Justice Living-Learning Floor is for students who are interested in careers in law enforcement, government service, or private sector careers related to investigative work. Students on the floor engage in social activities such as field trips, intramural sports, and club activities. The Scholar-in-Residence tutors and helps students acclimate to classes.
- FLASH
FLASH is an acronym that represents Foreign Languages, Latin American Studies, Anthropology, Social Studies and History. FLASH provides multiple opportunities for residents to interact with each other and to experience life outside the four walls of a traditional classroom through travel to Boston-Salem, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. Other activities include an academic competition, Mind Match, bowling competitions against faculty, fall picnic at a faculty home, and presentations at various times throughout the year. FLASH is the place for students who are interested in succeeding at Edinboro University! We enjoy a 95% rentention rate which means we help keep students at EUP!
- Performing Arts
Are you always rehearsing, practicing or performing? Do you think you will never find a place to live on campus where your interests in the arts can take center stage? Not true! EUP's Performing and Arts floor, located on 4th floor of Towers "B," is where you can find other students with interests similar to yours. Planned programming includes trips to see shows, including musicals, as well as on campus open stage nights. This is the place to live to get to know the performing arts campus community and begin to build friendships that will last long after graduation.
- Visual Arts & Literature
The mission of the Visual Arts and Literature Living/Learning Floor is to enhance the university experience for studio artists, writers, animators, and film makers, as well as other like-minded students. Through the efforts of the Scholar-in-Residence, a deep sense of community has been developed through in-house activites such as the group creation of murals and entering into intellectual competitions with fellow Living/Learning Floors. In addition, the floor has taken the initiative to organize field trips to art exhibitions and other cultural events, in Erie, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland.
