- Captioning and Tactile Services
The tactile lab operates to provide tactile information for students who require Braille and raised line drawings. Course syllabi, handouts and other instructional materials can be put into a tactile format. Since these services are individualized, students and professors must work closely with the OSD to produce these documents in a timely manner.
For students with hearing
impairments, the Office for Students with Disabilities has a captioning lab to
caption videotapes. Additionally, interpreter services can be arranged
based upon need and availability. Since
these services require additional lead time for the OSD to produce this work or
to hire personnel, the sooner it is known that these services will be required,
the better chance services will be in place for the requested times. A limited number of interpreters are
available in the region and students needing this service must work closely
with the OSD to establish a schedule.
Other services may be available depending on the student’s need as
determined by documentation provided to the OSD.
