Pass Program

Peer Advisor Student Services 

FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
BASIC SERVICE

1. Assistance in arranging academic accommodations including alternate test arrangements.
2. Priority scheduling of classes.
3. Consultation with staff.
4. Institutional membership with Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic.
5. No fee for this level.

We cannot require anyone to choose a particular level, however we strongly recommend students currently enrolled to sign up for Level 1 if they have less than a 2.50 QPA.

LEVEL 1F
(first semester freshman only)

1. Study skills and strategies class every T-TH morning from 8:30-9:20 in the Crawford Classroom 226. Tuesday morning class may be designated as UNIV 100 - Freshman Orientation and may appear on your schedule as a one-credit course.
2. Required participation in additional reading strategy instruction with a pre-service teacher education student enrolled in Special Education.
3. Four to eight hours per week with your assigned peer mentor for additional study skill support.
4. Students who are required to enroll in the developmental English course ENGL 010 - BASIC WRITING will be assigned to a restricted enrollment session taught in Crawford Classroom 226.
5. Writing Specialist assistance 1-2 hours per week upon recommendation of staff.
6. All of the services listed under Basic Service.
7. *Fee of $960.00 per semester.

LEVEL 1
(upperclass and second semester freshman)

1. Supervised study sessions with a trained peer mentor 1 - 2 hours per day, 4 days per week with additional hours added dependent upon student academic progress (4 -10 hours per week).
2. Writing specialist's assistance for 1 - 2 hours per week upon recommendation of staff.
3. Required appointment every other week with professional staff to review academic progress.
4. All of the services listed under Basic Service.
5. *Fee of $960.00 per semester. 

LEVEL 2
(upperclass only)

1. Peer mentoring on an hourly basis for a total of 45 hours per semester, not to exceed 6 hours for any single week, average 3 hours per week. (Additional hours may be arranged subject to mentor availability).
2. Writing specialist's assistance on an hourly basis 1 to 2 hours per week by arrangement with staff.
      *An hourly fee is charged for use of the writing specialist ($25.00 per hour)
3. Freshmen who choose Level 2 will be required to have contact with a staff member at least four times per semester.
4. All of the services listed under Basic Service.
5. * Fee of $360.00 per semester for 45 hours of peer mentoring.

STUDY SKILLS SUPPORT SERVICES
