CPT Isaac Sjol
CPT Isaac Sjol graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, AZ, with a BS in Aerospace Engineering and commissioned an Aviation Second Lieutenant in December 1999. Upon completion of the Army flight school, Sjol began serving as a CH-47D Platoon Leader with 7th Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in the summer of 2001. In January 2002, then 1LT Sjol deployed with the first conventional Army forces (TF Rakkasan) to Afghanistan where he flew combat operations, including Operation Anaconda. In early 2003, he deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom as an Executive Officer for the 159th Aviation Brigade Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC). He convoyed his company across Iraq and helped restore Mosul University through emergency relief funding and contracting. While in Iraq, he led his second flight platoon, again with 7th Battalion. After attending the Aviation Captain's Career Course, CPT Sjol continued serving with the 101st Airborne as a Battalion S4 (logistics officer) where he deployed for another year in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, this time based out of Forward Operating Base Speicher near Tikrit, Iraq. While there, CPT Sjol took command of the 100 soldier strong HHC, 6-101 General Support Aviation Battalion. In addition to combat flight operations, he oversaw countless projects to improve the battalion's facilities and equipment, continually increasing soldiers' quality of life at FOB Speicher.
CPT Sjol turned down a second company command to come to Edinboro University Army ROTC, fulfilling a long time desire to instruct cadets. He is using his experiences to train future officers to be leaders in the US Army, the greatest and most professional Army in the world.
