SFC Albert Sleek
Sergeant First Class Sleek entered the Ohio National Guard in December 1990 as a junior in high school. He graduated from Lakota High School in 1992 and served 5 years 10 months in the Ohio National Guard before transferring to active duty in November of 1996.
SFC Sleek began his career with the 1st Infantry Division in Vilseck, Germany, where he served as a driver, assistant gunner, and gunner in the Mortar Platoon in HHC 1-63 Armor Battalion. While serving with 1-63 Armor, Sleek earned the coveted Expert Infantry Badge as a Private First Class.
Following his three years in Germany, SFC Sleek served as a Squad Leader for two years in HHC 2-34 Armor Battalion at Fort Riley, Kansas. While serving in 2-34 Armor, SFC Sleek was promoted to Sergeant and attended the Professional Leadership Development Course (PLDC) at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
Later in Alaska, Sleek served as a Squad Leader, Section Sergeant, Section Leader, and Platoon Sergeant in HHC and Charlie Company 1-17 Infantry Battalion. While serving with 1-17 Infantry Battalion, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant and then to Sergeant First Class. He also attended Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course (BNCOC) at Fort Benning, Georgia. Sleek served a 16 month tour in Iraq where he earned the Combat Infantry Badge, participating in over 1000 combat patrols, 400 raids, and countless other humanitarian missions involving schools and medical clinics.
After six years in Alaska, SFC Sleek assumed his duties as the Senior Military Science Instructor at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in the spring of 2007. While at Edinboro,SFC Sleek has attended Maneuver Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course (MANCOC) at Fort Benning, Goergia.
SFC Sleek has successfully graduated in over 20 Army schools and has over 1000 hours in Army correspondence courses. He has over 30 credit hours of college from the University of Fairbanks Alaska and Barton Community College.
