FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS


What courses are offered?

Go to the Edinboro homepage - http://www.edinboro.edu.

Keyword search "S.C.O.T.S."

Click on the "Login to Database" link. 

To log in:

Your username is your Student Identification Number (Be sure to include the "@" symbol.)

Your PIN, if you have never logged on before, is your six digit birthdate (Using the MMDDYY format with no slashes or dashes).

You will be prompted to change your PIN.

Re-enter your old PIN, which is your six digit birthdate.

Your new PIN must be six digits different than your birthdate.

Re-enter your new PIN number that you just created.

You will be prompted to enter a security question.

This feature enables you to reset your PIN number if you ever forget.

Make sure you enter a question and answer that you will remember. Examples: Your mother's maiden name, your favorite food, your pet's name.

If you have logged on before, your PIN will be the six digit PIN that you picked.

Once you reach the Welcome page, click on "Student Services & Financial Aid." 

Click on "Registration." 

Click on "Look-up Classes."  

You can choose certain criteria if you are looking for a specific course. You must at least enter a subject field in order to perform a search.

It is recommended that you select your desired campus (This eliminates the chance that a student will schedule a class in a different city).

Are courses opened or closed?

Log on to S.C.O.T.S. and go to the "Look-up Classes" screen. 

If the course is closed, there will be a "C" in the first column for that course.



How do I add, drop, or withdraw from a course?
 

To add a course:

You must first obtain your alternate PIN number from your advisor.

Log on to S.C.O.T.S. and click "Look-up Classes."

Once you have found a course, check the box in the first column for that course and scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Register."

Enter the alternate PIN that your advisor gave you.

Make sure there were no errors when registering (you can make sure that you are scheduled by viewing your schedule either by "Student Schedule by Day and Time" or "Student Detail Schedule" from the Registration Menu.

To drop a course:

Log on to S.C.O.T.S. and click on "Add/Drop Classes."

Enter your alternate PIN number your advisor gave you.

Select the appropriate action for the desired course.

Click "Submit Changes" at the bottom of the page.

To withdraw from a course during the Withdraw period:

Log on to S.C.O.T.S. and click on "Add/Drop Classes."

Enter your alternate PIN number your advisor gave you.

Select the appropriate action for the desired course.

Click "Submit Changes" at the bottom of the page.


 
When is scheduling for the next academic term?

Fall Semester and Summer Sessions scheduling begins in April.

Spring Semester and Wintersession scheduling begins in November.

Check S.C.O.T.S. under "Check Registration Status" and refer to the scheduling book for the appropriate semester for the day you can begin scheduling (the day is based on your year and number of credits).



What is the last day to add, drop, or withdraw from a course?

Dates vary and are listed in the scheduling book and the University Calendar on Edinboro's homepage.



When does a specified academic term begin?

Refer to the scheduling book and the University Calendar on Edinboro's website.



What is the location and time of a particular course?

Check S.C.O.T.S. for the most up-to-date information for a course.

Do not rely solely on the scheduling book because changes can be made after it is published.

If you are registered for a course, be sure to check your schedule on S.C.O.T.S. frequently to be sure no changes have been made.



What is the academic calendar for a specified term?

Academic calendar information is available online from the Edinboro homepage and in the Scheduling book.



Is an advisor's signature required for add/drop/withdraw?

Your advisor's signature or an alternate PIN number is required if you are not registered for any courses and try to add a course at the Scheduling Office.

An alternate PIN number is required to add, drop, or withdraw on S.C.O.T.S.

No signature is required to drop a course at the Scheduling Office unless you are a first semester Freshman and have not previously had your Alternate PIN.



When are scheduling booklets going to be available?

Scheduling books are usually available at various locations on campus two weeks prior to scheduling.

Class Schedules are available on the Edinboro website beginning in mid-March for Fall Semester and Summer Sessions and mid-October for Spring Semester and Wintersession.
