Building Features

The Pogue Student Center serves as the "family room" for the university community.  In January 2008, the Student Center finally completed its multi-million dollar renovation, and continues to support programs and services for students.  The Information Desk is open during all building hours, where you can always see a smiling face and ask a question!

The Student Center houses a Food Court, appropriately named "Celtic Court," featuring Coyote Jack's Grill, Habaneros, and Pazzelli's Pizza.  Two spaces in the building are operated by the Student Government Association, including the Convenience Store and Computer Lab.  The Convenience Store offers a variety of snack and beverage choices, movie rentals, copy and fax services, and of course, ticket sales for Greyhound and on-campus events.  The computer lab has both PC and Mac computers and two printers to help with work or play.  In addition, the building features a Cyber Café, with three 32" TV's, a 60" plasma TV, all with gaming capabilities.  The space provides a very comfortable environment with a variety of seating options including some tall tables, regular height tables and chairs, loveseats and sofa chairs with coffee tables.  The Cyber Café overlooks the Fitness Center with a view that extends to the lake. 

The Fitness Center boasts Cardio Theatre equipment so that one can watch television while working out, as well as a gorgeous view of the lake.  There is a selectorize machine and free weight area, so there is something for everyone.  Two Aerobics Studios allow the opportunity to provide much variety in fitness classes, and the Elevated Track, which spans 1/14 of a mile, also overlooks the lake.  The recreation area also has two Gymnasiums, one with a multipurpose floor and one with a traditional wooden floor, to enhance all different types of activities.  Also included in the recreation area is the CORE Office (Center for Outdoor Recreation), Climbing Gym, and racquetball courts.  Both men's and women's locker rooms feature steam rooms and saunas. 

Other features of the Student Center include a 75 seat Theatre, named "Scot Cinema," with fixed comfortable seating, a stage and green room to do small performances, a projector and screen to show movies, and high tech surround sound and lighting systems.  In addition, the building has a Multipurpose Room that seats 500, and this room contains high-tech equipment, offering a beautiful venue in which to hold a multitude of events.  This is a building where all students are welcome, and great things are always happening!
