- Transfer and Adult Student Orientation FAQ
IS ORIENTATION MANDATORY FOR TRANSFER AND ADULT STUDENTS?
We strongly encourage transfer students to attend an orientation session to
become acclimated to the University and to begin to make positive connections
with University resources.
WHAT HAPPENS AT ORIENTATION?
Transfer
and Adult students participate in placement testing for math and English to
ensure that they are registered for the appropriate courses. Students meet with
faculty and academic leaders who provide information about degree programs and
expectations. Students also have a chance to meet with representatives from
financial aid, housing, and other key campus offices. In addition, students get their ID card,
learn about campus resources and opportunities and visit the campus
bookstore.
WHY IS THERE A FEE FOR ORIENTATION?
The
costs associated with the orientation program are not included in the student's
tuition and other fees. Therefore, the University must charge a
nominal fee to cover the operational expenses for the program. All print
materials and publications, student program staff, meals and refreshments are
included in the fee. For students, the fees associated with placement
testing and the student ID card are also included.
IS THERE A PARENTS' PROGRAM AT ORIENTATION?
Transfer and adult students usually attend orientation alone. Parents or family members who accompany them
are welcome to visit the campus bookstore and to explore the shops and
attractions within Edinboro. As a resort
community, Edinboro Lake provides a nice
diversion on a summer day.
MAY I MAKE MY RESERVATION BY PHONE, FAX OR EMAIL?
We prefer that students mail their reservation forms. If that isn’t possible, we will accept
transfer and adult student reservations by fax or email. Please include all of the information that is
required on the form (name, ID number, major,
phone, email address, etc.)
