Fall Convocation and Founder's Day Celebration
Purpose
The Edinboro Family gathers at the beginning of the academic year to greet each other and discuss our priorities, goals and initiatives at the Fall Convocation. This annual gathering provides the University community an opportunity to refocus on our guiding priorities. We also take note of the significant accomplishments we have realized in their interest to date. Meanwhile, we welcome new members to our Family and recognize some of the personal and career milestones of our faculty and staff. The daylong Founder's Day activities are designed to commemorate and celebrate the history of the University and its founding in 1857.
Date
The Fall Convocation was held on Friday, September 14.
Who is invited
All students, faculty, staff, administrators, Board of Governors, SSHE Leadership Team, Council of Trustees, Capital Campaign Chairs, Alumni Association Board of Directors, Foundation Board of Directors, University Services, Inc. Board of Directors, Parents & Families Organization officers, local retired faculty and staff, local community, business and church leaders, area mayors and legislators.
How
Invitations are included in the "Opening of School" mailing. Posters are displayed on all floors in every campus building. In addition, the "Opening of School Edition" of the In Touch newsletter contains an invitation for all recipients. Information is also posted on the University web page.
RSVP necessary, requested?
A response is requested from off-campus constituents via return of a self-addressed, postage-paid reply card to the President's Office. Reservations are necessary for the Founder's Day Luncheon.
Homecoming Brunch on the Lawn
Purpose
The Homecoming celebration continues the Edinboro tradition of pride and community spirit. The Brunch on the Lawn provides an opportunity for everyone to gather together to enjoy a light meal, visit with colleagues and community members and, in many cases, renew friendships.
Date/Time/Location
The Homecoming Brunch takes place on Saturday, October 6, at 10:00 a.m. on the lawn adjacent to Reeder Hall.
Who is invited
All Edinboro students, faculty, staff, administrators, retired faculty and staff, Board of Governors, State System of Higher Education Executive Council, Council of Trustees, Capital Campaign Chairs, Alumni Board, Foundation Board, University As a Neighbor Advisory Group, Parents & Families Organization officers, local community, business and church leaders, area mayors, legislators, retired faculty and staff, community center directors, high school principals, elementary and middle school principals at Northwestern, General McLane and Penncrest, school superintendents, family members of past presidents, Erie Conference on Community Development, Millennium Commission, Honorary Degree recipients, Meadville City Council are invited to join us at the Homecoming Brunch on the Lawn.
Veteran's Day Reception
Purpose
The purpose of this event is to acknowledge those members of the Edinboro Family who have demonstrated their commitment to civic responsibility and the preservation of the democratic process through military service to our country.
Date/Time/Location
The Veteran's Day Reception will be held Friday, November 9, in the Reeder Hall Lobby from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.

All Edinboro students, faculty, staff, administrators, retired faculty and staff, Board of Governors, State System of Higher Education Executive Council, Council of Trustees, Capital Campaign Chairs, Alumni Board, Foundation Board, University As a Neighbor Advisory Group, Parents & Families Organization officers, local community, business and church leaders, area mayors, legislators, retired faculty and staff are invited to participate this event.
Holiday Reception
Purpose
The Holiday Reception provides an opportunity for all members of the Edinboro Family to gather at this very special time of the year to enjoy fellowship, celebrate the season, and extend goodwill.
Date/Time/Location
The Holiday Reception will take place in December in the University Center Multipurpose Room and the Atrium area.

Edinboro faculty, staff and students, Council of Trustees, Foundation Board, Alumni Board, University Service Inc. Board, Capital Campaign Chairpersons, local retired faculty and staff, University As a Neighbor Advisory Group, Campus Ministry Board, Edinboro Borough Council, local mayors, Northwest PA Legislative Caucus, Millennium Commission, Erie Conference on Community Development are invited to participate this event.
Pre-Commencement Brunch
Purpose
The Pre-Commencement Brunch provides an opportunity for the President and Mrs. Pogue to meet and greet the graduates and their families prior to the Commencement ceremony. It is also an opportunity for the graduates' families to share a meal on campus at a nominal cost with their graduates.

The Pre-Commencement Brunch takes place on Saturday, December 15, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Van Houten Dining Hall.
Who is invited
Edinboro graduates and their families, Council of Trustees, Faculty Marshals, Chancellor, Alumni Board President, Vice Presidents and Deans, remainder of President's Executive Council, Associate Vice Presidents, Department Chairpersons, Northwest PA Legislative Caucus, Federal Legislators, Guests of Honorary Degree Recipients, Commencement Committee are invited to attend the event.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Awards Luncheon
Purpose
The purpose of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Awards Luncheon is to bring the community together to celebrate our past, present and future. By sharing the common experiences, we expect to build a even closer relationship with the community. It also provide us an opportunity to recognize individuals who remind us each day of the teachings and philosophies of Dr. King.

All Edinboro faculty, staff and students, Erie Conference, Meadville Churches, Campus Ministry, Northwest PA Legislative Caucus, Mayors, Erie County Council, Community Center Leaders, Capital Campaign Chairs, Erie City Council, Alumni Executive Board, State System of Higher Education Leadership Team, Foundation Board of Directors, APSCUF, State System of Higher Education presidents, Erie Churches, Area College Presidents, Honorees and their guests are invited to this event.
How and to Whom
Invitations will be sent out to Edinboro faculty and staff through campus e-mail. Edinboro students will also be invited through posters that are available in every campus buildings on all floors. Honorees and their guests will receive a personal invitation from the President. The invitations will be mailed to all other constituents. Invitation of this event may also be obtained in the In Touch newsletter.

Edinboro faculty and staff may respond to the Coordinator of Special Events and Programs via e-mail. Honorees and their guests may contact the President's Office at 732-1381. All other constituents may respond via self-addressed, postage-paid post card.
Spring Convocation and Employee Recognition Reception
Purpose
Spring Convocation provides the Edinboro Family the opportunity to review University progress toward goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives as we pause to honor employee service and accomplishments. In addition to an update on the University's achievements during the academic year, the program includes the presentation of employee anniversary service awards, the presentation of retiree service plaques, and the announcement of finalists and winners of the Educator, Advisor, Faculty Researcher, and Staff Member of the Year Awards.

The Spring Convocation will be held in the University Club, Van Houten Dining Hall North. The Employee Recognition Reception will follow at the University Center Multipurpose Room and Atrium. (2008 date TBA)
Who is invited
All students, faculty, staff, administrators, Council of Trustees, Alumni Association Board of Directors, Foundation Board of Directors, local retired faculty and staff, volunteers, area mayors and legislators, service anniversary awardees, retiree honorees are welcome to participate in this event.
How and to Whom
Invitation letter from President Pogue will be mail to individuals. Posters may also be available in campus buildings. Flyers will be posted on the residence halls for students and organizations. Information will also be included in In Touch newsletter.

Edinboro Family Picnic
Purpose
Gathering to visit and enjoy a summer picnic with colleagues and their family members in a relaxed and informal atmosphere to celebrate the community spirit that is reflected in the Edinboro Family.
Date/Time/Location
The Edinboro Family Picnic is held during the month of July at the President's Residence, 214 Meadville Street, Edinboro.
Who is invited
Edinboro faculty, staff and students, Alumni Association Board Members, Highland Ambassadors, retired faculty and staff, ROTC, USI staff, Bookstore, Wood Dining Services, Foundation Board, USI Board, volunteers are invited to participate in this event.
